醒世恒言注释本 (Lasting Words to Awaken the World（Annotation)

《醒世恒言》中的一些作品表现了世人济困救难、拾金不昧、不贪钱财等高尚品行，例如，《两县令竞义婚孤女》，江州德化县知县石璧因仓库失火，损失官粮千馀石，共该银一千五百馀两，石璧由此被上司软监，忧愤身亡，留下未成年的女儿月香，被人转卖到后任知县钟离义家为婢女。钟知县得知事情的真相以后，同情石璧父女的遭遇，在亲家翁、德安县高知县的支持下，备办嫁妆，将自己女儿和月香分别嫁给高知县的长子和次子，使孤女月香有了终身依靠。小说赞扬了钟离义和高知县感人的义行。不仅如此，这篇小说的可贵之处还在于它塑造了一个市井百姓贾昌的义士形象，贾昌是位商人，曾受石知县之恩，"昔年被人诬陷，坐假人命事，问成死罪在狱。亏石知县到任，审出冤情，将他释放。"石知县蒙冤离世，遗下女儿和养娘二口，官府让牙婆官卖，取价偿官。贾昌知恩报恩，交付八十两银子，替石知县女儿月香和养娘交了身价，领回家抚养，"分付家中男女，都称为石小姐"，贾昌在外为商，"每得好绸好绢，先尽上好的寄与石小姐做衣服穿。比及回家，先问石小姐安否。"(Some chapters in this book present lofty morality like relieving people from troubles, not picketing the money one having picked up and being not money-mad. For example, in Two County Magistrates Helping the Marriage of the Orphan Girl for Righteousness, Shi Bi, the magistrate of Dehua County, Jiangzhou died for worry and anger for the warehouse got fire and thousands dan of tax grains were burnt with the total cost of over 1500 liang silver. Therefore Shi Bi was prisoned by the superior. After Shi's death, his minor daughter Yuexiang was sold to the new magistrate Zhong Liyi as a maidservant. After Zhong knew the truth, he sympathized the father and the daugther of Shi family. With the support of the co-father-in-law, Mr. Gao, the magistrate of Dehua County, Zhong prepared the dowries for Yuexiang and his daughter so that they married the eldest son and the second son of Mr. Gao. The orphan girl Yuexiang got dependence all her life. The novel praised Zhong Liyi and Magistrate Gao's affecting righteous deeds. Additionally, this novel molded a righteous common people Jiang Chang. Jia is a businessman. Magistrate Shi used to do him a favor. In some former year, he was accused for killing someone. And he was sentenced to death and prisoned. Fortunately Magistrate Shi took the office. He learnt the grievance and released Jia. Magistrate Shi passed away with grievance, left one daughter and a maidservant. The local government asked the woman trading in girls as slaves to sell them. And Jia Chang was grateful. He paid 80 liang silver to redeem them. And Jia took them home to raise. He asked every one of his family to call Yuexiang Miss Shi. If he got good silk when he had business trips, he will send it home to do clothes for Miss Shi. And After he came back, he would first greet Miss Shi.)
