本丛书为二十世纪二三十年代商务印书馆王云五主编《万有文库》之子系，奉献给广大国学爱好者。原丛书共60种，考虑到难易程度、四部平衡、篇幅等因素，在广泛征求专家意见基础上，现删减为34种30册，基本保留了原书的篇章结构。因应时势有极少量的删节。原文部分，均选用通用、权威版本全文校核，参以校订者己见做了必要的校核和改订。为阅读的通顺、便利，未一一标注版本出处。注释根据原文的结构分别采用段后注、文后注，以便读者省览。原注作了适当增删，基本上保持原文字风格，之乎者也等虚词适当剔除，增删力求通畅、易懂，避免枝蔓。典实、注引做了力所能及的查证，但因才学有限疏漏可能在所难免。原书为繁体竖排，现转简体横排。简化按通行规则，但考虑到作为国学读物，普及知识亦在情理之中，故而保留了少量通假字、繁体字、异体字，一般都出注说明，或许亦可增加读者的阅读兴趣和扩大知识面。生僻、多音字作相应注音，原反切、同音、魏妥玛注音，均统一改现代汉语拼音。(This series is a sub-series of All-Encompassing Library edited by Wang Yun Wu of the Commercial Press in the 1920s and 1930s and is dedicated to the vast number of Sinology enthusiasts.
The original series of 60 kinds, taking into account the degree of difficulty, the balance of the four tones, as well as the length and other factors, based on the extensive consultation with experts, is now deleted to 34 kinds of 30 books, retaining the basic structure of the original book.
Very small amount of the book is deleted in response to the current situation.
The original work is proofread in accordance to the universal, authoritative version, with the necessary verification and revision of its revisers.
To give the reader a fluent and convenient reading experience, the sources are not given at the spot.
Instead, they are injected respectively at the end of the paragraph or passage according to the structure of the original text, for the reader's convenience to peruse.
Retaining its original writing style, appropriate additions and deletions, such as the deletions of Function words, are made to the original notes, for the purpose of unobstruction.
No efforts are spared to verify the Allusions and references, yet the errors of which might still be inevitable for the limit of the knowledge.
The traditional Chinese character of the original book is changed to simplified ones, and its linage is changed from vertical to in horizontal.
The simplification is applied according to the common rules, but taking into account of its function of popularizing relevant knowledge as a Sinology reading material, it is also reasonable therefore to retain a small amount of interchangeable characters, traditional Chinese characters and Variant Forms of the characters, generally with notes, through which perhaps the readers' interest can be increased and their knowledge be expanded.
To rarely-used characters and polyphony characters, Phonetic Notation is added correspondently, all of which adopt the modern Chinese pinyin system instead of the Fan-qie, homophone, or Wade-Giles Romanization systems.
